Q.How is the R-1 capable of recording truly high-quality audio?

A.Compared to other portable recording devices, the R-1 offers superior performance
and features more commonly associated with professional recording devices,
while maintaining the small foot-print associated with portable consumer recording devices.

  1. High quality recording for both MP3 and WAV files
    The R-1 is compatible with WAV 24-bit, 44.1kHz.
    This allows you to record audio at better than CD quality.
    The R-1 is also compatible with MP3 16-bit, 320kbps.
    This is a great feature for users who place high importance in high quality music recording, but need to conserve storage space.
  2. Premium built-in microphone
    The R-1 incorporates an omni-directional back electret condenser stereo microphone. This is a shockproof and high-reliability microphone, despite being ultra- small and low profile. The built-in microphone uses noise-shielded components, which results in a very flat frequency response.
    The R-1 is completely free from mechanical noise because there are no mechanical parts. This is an advantage over any conventional recording device, including Cassette tape, MiniDisc, and DAT recorders which rely on motors and other mechanical parts to record audio.
  3. 24-bit digital signal processing
    The R-1 uses 24-bit digital signal processing to achieve high-quality audio. Understanding that the A/D converter is a crucial part of the signal patch, we employ highly-acclaimed AKM A/D converters, offering remarkable sound capture.

  4. Analog circuits designed for high-quality sound
    The R-1 uses an I.A.R.C. (Isolated Adaptive Recording Circuit) to isolate the power supplied to the analog components & the A/D converter. This allows the different components to always function at optimal gain settings with out interfering with each other.

  5. Analog limiter circuit for distortion-free recording
    The R-1 incorporates an analog limiter circuit. This will automatically eliminate clipping that is derived from sudden unexpected increases in the audio level.

  6. Individual power supply circuits and cut off digital DC
    The analog limiter circuit and the A/D converter do not draw power from a common direct source, creating less mutual interference. DC signal are eliminated and the over-all distortion of the signal is greatly reduced.
  7. Sound adjustment using exclusive DSP processing
    The R-1 incorporates a 10-band equalizer working on 24-bit DSP. Frequency bands are selectable from the following: LOW 32/64/125/250/500 Hz, HIGH 1/2/4/8/16 kHz, +/- 12db adjustable. You can use this EQ to adjust according to room resonance and tonal characteristics of your audio source.
