System ProgramR-26 System Program Ver.1.12

This system program updates your R-26 to the latest version 1.12.


How to tell the version
Please check the version of the system working on your R-26 before downloading the archive file.

When you turn the power on, the system software version is shown in the lower left of the screen.
*Don't perform the update if the product is already up-to-date.

The following bug was fixed.
  • Even when the Mic Mode is set to "OMNI MIC" or "XY MIC," the PEAK indicator lights based on input signals from both MICs.

  • Added the "MONITOR TYPE" settings in the menu of [ INPUT SETUP ] - [ ANALOG IN ].
    You can select the monitor type from STEREO or MONO for the audio being input to the analog audio input connectors.

The following bug was fixed.
  • When you use 88 kHz or 96 kHz setting on recording with the PLUG IN MIC jacks , a gap of one sample was between right and left channels.

  • The following settings related to the use of 4-channel and 6-channel recording have been added.
    • Settings that allow the input sensitivity/input level to be adjusted independently for the XY mic and the OMNI mic.
    • Settings that allow the input sensitivity/input level to be adjusted independently for the input from the ANALOG IN 1/L and ANALOG IN 2/R jacks.
  • It's now possible to delete an audio memo you've added to a recording.
[Bug Fixes]
The following bugs were fixed.
  • There is no sound from the PHONES jack when the input sensitivity of "P-IN" was set to "AUTO SENS" on the following recording settings.
  • R-26 became inoperable if you turned the [SENS] button on and off immediately after entering recording-standby mode.

Items to prepare for the update
Following items are required to perform the update.
  • R-26 itself
  • AC adaptor supplied with R-26
  • SD CARD formatted on the R-26
  • SD CARD reader or PC with an SD CARD slot ( Windows or Mac )
    * You can use your R-26 in storage mode instead of an SD card reader.

Caution when performing the update
    R-26 will return to the factory-preset settings after updating.

    We recommend that you note down your settings with reference to the "Settings for the R-26" section of the manual before updating.
  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the R-26. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • Never power-off your R-26 while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the R-26 won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

Getting the update file
Please open/extract the downloaded "r26_sys_v112.zip" file on your computer to get the one update file named "R26_PROG.UPD" in the "r26_sys_v112" folder.

Procedure for the update
  • You must not rename the extracted files.
  • Never turn off the R-26's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the R-26 itself may be destroyed.
Please install the extracted system program files into your R-26 according to the following procedure.

Creating the Update SD Card
  1. Start your computer then connect the SD Card to an SD Card Slot of the computer.
  2. Copy the update files "R26_PROG.UPD" onto the root directory of the SD Card device.
    * Do not copy the "r26_sys_v112" folder.
    * You can also use your R-26 in storage mode for copying data to an SD card. Refer to the manual for details.
  3. Un-mount the SD Card device through the correct procedure, then disconnect from the computer.

Update Procedure
  1. Make sure the power to the unit is switched off.
  2. Insert the system-update SD card into the SD card slot.
  3. Connect the AC adaptor to the unit.
    * Never disconnect the AC adaptor while the update is in progress. Doing so may corrupt the system and cause the unit to fail to operate correctly.
  4. Hold down [ REC ] button and switch on the power.
    The Program Update screen appears.
  5. Verify the versions displayed on the screen.
  6. Press [ REC ] button to start the update process.
  7. The message "- Complete !! -" will appear on the display when the update process completes.
  8. Turn the R-26 power off.
    Please verify the version number "1.10" with the procedure described in "How to tell the version" part of this document.
