This program is used to update the JUNO-Gi system software to the most recent version.

How to know the version
Before you start, check the system program version of your JUNO-Gi.
  1. Press the [ MENU ] button.
  2. Use the value dial or the cursor buttons to choose 4. System , then press the [ ENTER ] button.
    The System Menu screen appears.
  3. Press [ F6 ] ( INFORMATION ). The version informations of the “Version” and the “Sub Version” are displayed.
    Note: * If this shows the latest version, there’s no need to update your JUNO-Gi.

The following bug was fixed.
  • A noise might occur on USB audio when it was connected with PC via USB.

The following bugs were fixed.
  • When you used the specified rhythm pattern, the tempo was out of alignment.
  • When you repeated Recording or Track Copy operation, the message "EVENT FULL" appeared and then a failure occurred.
  • A Track Editing operation caused disappearance of insert effects and rhythm patterns in current editing.
  • When a song's size reached the amount of 2GB, the Song Optimize function could not be executed on the song.
[ Additional Functions ]
  • Available for Roland Wireless Connect ( WNA1100-RL ).

  • Added the "Live Set Remain" function.
    If you turn on the Live Set Remain function, the currently-playing notes will no longer be interrupted when you switch sounds (Live Sets).

[ BUG FIX ] The following bugs fixed.
  • Fixed the following bug in the Song Optimize function.
    Some song data might be destroyed by executing Song Optimize.

[ BUG FIX ] The following bugs fixed.
  • When you repeat saving your own original rhythm patterns to the USER area of a JUNO-Gi over and over, it comes to play incorrectly.
  • An existing pattern of USER rhythm cannot be overwritten.

What you will need to update your JUNO-Gi
  • JUNO-Gi
  • A SD Card ( We recommend the SD Card came with JUNO-Gi )
    * The SD card need to be formatted on a JUNO-Gi and have 6MB or more free space.
  • A computer with an SD Card Reader/Writer.

Caution when performing the update
  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the JUNO-Gi. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • Never power-off your JUNO-Gi while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the JUNO-Gi won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

Getting the update file
  • Please open/extract the downloaded “junogi_sys_v111.zip” file on your computer to get the update files named “juno_gi_up.bin” and “juno_gi_sb_up.bin” in the “junogi_sys_v111” folder.

Procedure for the update
  • Never power-off your JUNO-Gi while the update is in progress!
Creating the Update SD Card
  1. Start your computer then connect the SD Card to an SD Card Slot of the computer.
  2. Copy the update files “juno_gi_up.bin” and “juno_gi_sb_up.bin” onto the root directory of the SD Card device.
    * Do not copy the “junogi_sys_v111” folder.
  3. Un-mount the SD Card device through the correct procedure, then disconnect from the computer.

Update Procedure
  1. With the power to the JUNO-Gi switched off, insert the SD card.
  2. Hold down TRACK [ 1-4 5-8 ] button (at the right edge of the DIGITAL RECORDER section) and switch on the power to the unit.
    The update is executed automatically.
    When the message Completed! appears, the update has finished. (You will take about two minutes to update.)
  3. Turn the power off and on again. Then, the system will boot up on new system program.
  4. Please refer to the procedure described in “How to know the version” part of this document to verify the versions.
